Action Alert: Sign On to Support Universal Free School Meals
Did you know that 1 in 3 Hawaiʻi households are food insecure?
This creates significant challenges to health and learning for many of our keiki.
Many families earn too much to qualify for free school meals but too little to afford basic living costs, leaving students without the nutrition they need to succeed.
Providing universal free school meals would ensure all students have access to nutritious breakfasts and lunches, improving their health, well-being, and academic success. Research shows that free meals can boost test scores, delivering benefits comparable to six extra weeks of school.
Join us in supporting this important legislation by signing on to this letter from Hawai’i Public Health Institute (HIPHI) and Hawaiʻi Appleseed.
Together, we can make sure every keiki gets the nourishment they need to thrive.
